VoIP and Synchronous Collaboration services
We offer a variety of synchronous collaboration services to complement the delivery of your course. In particular we have extensive experience with voice over IP (voip). We maintain our own voip network accessible by web browser, traditional phone, or softphone/ethernet phone. All students are assigned a voip account
Conference System
Students can access the audio conference system via web, softphone or traditional phone. Students may dial into the conference room (at no cost to them) from access numbers in various cities around the world. We also provide a facility for the moderator to remotely add a user on a traditional phone to a conference. Students with broadband and a headset/microphone can connect to the conference room from a web browser, or by using the softphone application supplied on the course DVD-ROM.
Moderation
Staff can controll all aspects of the conference from a web browser. This includes (i) booking a conference, (ii) limiting access to the conference by password if required, (iii) record conference archive. While conference is running, a list of users in the room is displayed in the browser, the teacher can mute or unmute users, and remove users from the room (kick).
Podcasting and Forum integration
Audio recordings of a conference can be posted to the appropriate course web forum. Students may download these and listen to them on their computer or Mp3 player (iPod etc).
Moderation
We also offer a service whereby our staff will provide technical moderation for your audio conference (assisting users to connect, muting or unmuting users, assisting presenters, editing audio conference archives, etc)
Chat Room
Text chat room(s) are available for use by students, and are typically used in conjunction with audio conferences.
Alternative conferencing products
We also offer support for alternative commercial and open-source conferencing products to meet the needs of course providers. Please contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
